EARLY SIGNS OF BREAST CANCER
Hi everyone!
I hope you
all are doing well.
Today we are
going to talk about an important health problem, that every woman should know
about. And that is breast cancer.
What is breast cancer?
Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women. Pakistan is one of the Asian countries where the rate of breast cancer in women is very high. It is a treatable disease but can only be prevented with timely diagnosis and proper treatment.
Like any disease, breast cancer has some obvious and common symptoms
that indicate that breast cancer is starting.
For good
health, it is important that you know how the breast should look or feel so
that any abnormal changes in the breast can be detected. About 90,000 new cases
are diagnosed each year, of which 40,000 lives are lost. Women are generally
unaware of the symptoms of breast cancer and also, don’t know how it is
diagnosed.
In today's
topic we will explain what are the symptoms of breast cancer? Why and how it
occurs and how it can be prevented?
What is a tumor?
According
to experts, the cells in our body are constantly dividing according to need. If
these cells started dividing abnormally in any part of the body, a group of
cells is formed in that part which is called tumor in scientific terms. This
same group of cells causes breast cancer when it forms in the breast.
What are the early symptoms of breast cancer?
There are
many rumors about breast cancer, but if you notice any changes with the
following early symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.
1 1) Changes in the
shape, outlines, or size of the breasts
2 2) pits or
wrinkles in the skin of the breasts
33) feeling of a lump inside the breasts or
tightening of the breasts
4 4) Discharge of any unusual material from the
nipples
5 5) A rash on or
around the nipple, reversal of the nipple
6 6) Lump or swelling in the armpit
7 7) New persistent pain in the breasts
8 8) New veins appearing on one breast but not on
the other.
Be sure to check your breasts once a month to
find out these symptoms. Don't check more than once a month. Doing so makes it
difficult to notice very little change.
Who are more likely to get breast cancer?
Women of
all ages have a higher risk of developing breast cancer after 40 years, but
some women have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than any other woman
for the following reasons.
1 1) Families whose
women have had the disease in the past, such as mothers, sisters, grandmothers,
and aunts, etc. In this case, the risk of breast cancer increases in future
generations.
2 2) The risk of breast cancer in women also increases with age.
3) Women who have cancer in one
breast, may be at risk of ` developing cancer in the other breast.
3 4) Women who have
had their period before the age of twelve.
4 5) Women who have stopped menstruating after the
age of fifty.
5 6) Women who have had their first child after the
age of 30, or women who have not had a child.
What are the other possible causes of breast cancer?
Experts say that an unbalanced diet of women can also cause breast cancer. Another major cause is stress and depression. Lonely women are at higher risk of developing the disease.
Doctors say women should breastfeed their babies to protect them
from breast cancer. Instead, breastfeed and should sleep at night without
wearing a bra, and use a white skin-colored bra.
Many women
in Asian countries, especially Pakistan, die from this disease. First of all,
they are not aware of breast cancer and do not know what is breast cancer, its
causes and symptoms.
That's why it is said, stay informed, stay healthy.
